| If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding career then Millwrights and Machinery Erectors Local 548 may have the opportunity that is right for you.
The work of a union millwright is both challenging and diverse and includes such jobs as assembly, erection, installation and maintenance of all types of industrial machines and equipment including installating and moving production equipment and machines. As a union millwright apprentice you will be enrolled in a state-of-the art program of technical training taught by journeymen with years of experience in the millwright trade. Your new education will combine classroom work with hands-on instruction specifically designed to teach you the superior millwrighting skills that you will need to know to be successful in your new career. You will receive 7000 hours of on-the-job training and a minimum of 144 hours of related instruction per year while attending classes at night at the Twin Cities Training Center. This includes all safety training necessary to to work safely.
Once you are enrolled in the Millwright Apprenticeship Program you will go to work for a union millwright contractor. This will be a good job with a good wage. As you complete your Apprenticeship training your wages will be increased and all along you will receive fringe benefits.
Qualifications Hiring and selection The final score for each qualified applicant will be the composite of their millwright qualifying test score and their interview score. This final score will determine the qualified applicants position on the list of people eligible for program selection. Selection will always be made by taking the person with the highest score available on the list. Qualified applicants will remain on the list for two years and can reapply at any time that they wish to. |
